The Namesake follows the Indian Ganguli family, focusing on Gogol Ganguli. Gogol is a 1st generation Indian-American and from an early age finds a hard time coming to terms his families traditional ways and even his own name. Almost every part of this movie is rather well done. Kal Penn is actually a talented actors and does a fantastic job as Gogol Ganguli. The culture is explained in such a way that even those with no exposure to it can understand. The color palette used to reenforce the story was intelligently used, and represents the feeling of the scene. This movie is based of a novel by Jhumpa Lahiri, the movie is really slow paced even though it speeds through Gogol’s life which is my only real complaint about the movie
