I finally decided to pick up one of Microsoft’s Wireless Headset for my Xbox 360, I didn’t really need a new headset considering the one that came with the 360 worked just fine. It was more a matter of wanting it just to have it. So I shelled out the $60 down at Toys R Us and put it through its paces playing Gears of War. The headset is light enough that you hardly feel it and it fits snugly on your ear.
Once the headset had been fully charged, taking a few hours, it was an easy set up. All you need to do is press the sync button on the console and wireless headset. Within seconds it was all set up and synced and I was chatting away with friends killing Locusts in GoW. The wireless headset integrates itself seamlessly with the console, showing the remaining battery life in the Xbox 360 Guide right next to the controllers remaining battery indicator.
A couple of minor complaints are that it uses a wall charger instead of a handy USB cable. With the Xbox 360 having so many ports, it would have been nice to have the option to charge it through the console. One thing I noticed when I first started using it was the echo I was getting when everyone was talking. After a few minutes the echo disappeared and everyone sounded as clear as they would if I were using the wired headset.
Other than that I really don’t have any complaints. The wireless headset is definitely worth the price and it looks good to boot. If you’re looking for a wireless headset to go with your 360 and don’t mind spending $60, or cheaper online, then I’d definitely recommend Microsoft’s Wireless Headset.
