Every now and then I really can’t psych myself to write a review. This only happens when I have apathy towards a movie. Unfortunately this is one of those times, but hey I’ll give it a try. Ichi the Killer, otherwise known as Koroshiya 1 in Japan, is an exercise in depravity from start to finish. The violence is practically constant and felt as if it was so extreme for the sake of being extreme, it didn’t add anything to the movie one bit. The plotting is lazy, the dialogue is weak and the direction is overdone. Style over substance is the best way to describe this movie.

The acting was sub par except for Tadanobu Asano, who played Kakihara. His performance made the movie somewhat watchable. Some have said that it’s either a love it or hate it type of movie. I don’t really hate it, I just don’t care about it. Nothing made me want to care. I honestly don’t feel like writing anymore, and I’m ashamed for it. To put it bluntly, the movie sucked. Hard.
